DESCRIPTION:
Cartridge Magnum – Usage
Magnums are the preferred needle type for most shading and filling work. The cartridges, thanks to their design and have great Inkflow, making them ideal for packing colour over largerareas and for shading large areas of skin. With the Magnum cartridges, fewer passes are needed over an area to ink in, which means less strain on the skin. This translates into fasterhealing of the tattoo and a better end result.
What size Magnum cartridge should I choose?
If you are wondering what size Kwadron Cartridge Magnum you should choose, we have a hint for you. Smaller ones (fewer needles in the cartridge, such as 25/7) are great for filling in narrow areas, shading fine details and creating texture. As a general rule, you should use the largest magnum that the tattoo you are doing allows. If you choose to use a small magnum to cover a large area, it will be more difficult to achieve a uniform fill or smooth transition. For example, if you use a size 7 magnum to fill an entire sleeve, it will take forever and causeunnecessary damage to your client’s skin. If you do a coloured background, the application of colour will be uneven and cause the tattoo to heal not equally. If you’re going to fill in largeareas of skin, use a larger magnum, such as 21 or 23, or opt for the newcomer from Kwadron, the Kwadron Combat Magnum. These will cover a larger area and produce smoother gradientsthan smaller sets, especially on large skin surfaces.
Tattoo needle sizes make a difference.
Not only the needles marked 0.35 mm (#12) are larger than those marked 0.30 (#10), but also the distances between the needles in their configuration are larger. Therefore, while a 0.35/15 Magnum needle will allow you to quickly fill a large tattoo area with colour, the 0.30/15 magnum configuration will be slightly smaller, despite having the same number of needles, becausetheir spacing is closer together. Using a cartridge 0.30 mm (#10) needle size provides a smoother application of colour to the skin, will allow for softer shading and make smoothertransitions between black and grey. The smallest needle size of 0.25 (#08) will allow you to make fine details, for example in portraits It allows for several passes over the skin, whichminimises skin damage but will slow down your work on big areas. If you need to fill an area with solid colour choose 0.30 (#10) or preferably 0.35 (#12).
